To be eligible for a grant from The National Capital Cancer Research Fund, applicants must qualify on each of the following:
- The parent institution is an NCI-designated Cancer Center, Comprehensive Cancer Center, or Basic Laboratory Cancer Center and recognized by the Internal Revenue Service as a public charity under sections 501(c)(3) or 509(a)(1), (2), or (3) of the Internal Revenue Code.
- The principal investigator (PI) is currently a resident in the Washington metropolitan area or plans to move to the Washington, D.C. area full-time if the grant is approved, is a practicing MD, and has a strong interest in clinical trials and translational research.
- No more than 33% of the funds may be spent outside the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area
