The National Capital Cancer Research Fund (NCCRF) is dedicated to accelerating the development and adoption of precision targeted therapies that hold the promise of transforming a diagnosis of cancer from the death sentence it once was to a chronic disease that can be managed.
NCCRF seeks to strengthen world-class cancer research programs in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area. To accomplish this goal, we provide significant, multi-year grants for the best young talent in translational cancer research from America’s top medical centers and residencies, who decide to undertake their research in Washington, DC.
Further, we seek to enable Washington, D.C. to become a model research-supporting community. Ultimately, all cancer patients, wherever they choose to be treated, should have local access to clinical trials of advanced targeted therapies, so they are no longer forced to travel to Baltimore or New York or Boston in hopes of gaining benefit from new treatments before those treatments come into general use.
Two-page, initial proposals can be sent at any time for grants ranging from $50,000 - $1,000,000 in direct costs, plus 12% allowable indirect costs. If approved, a second, more detailed application process is required. Please see Topics of Special Interest for more details.
